Tramping at Mikonui Reflection
I arrive at school ready for the tramp I'm so excited to get going we get in the cars and off we go we get to the start of the tramp but the cows were on the track so we had to wait. When we started walking the pack was really heavy and made my shoulders hurt but after a while, I got used to it.
That night at the hunt we did a solo, wich is when we get left in the bush for 20 minutes and all we are allowed to do is sit there and wait, we had a notepad to write and draw on, it was kinda scary but I got through it.
Overall it was an awesome trip and everyone had lots of fun

My Debate journey
We just had our 6th class debate! Debating is really fun, you have to be really good at thinking on the spot.
Debating taught me to Think ‘on-the-spot’ and form counter-arguments/rebuttals during the debate, and also collaborate with my teammates to organise our arguments.
After all I really like debating and I'm looking forward for the next one.

Skiing at Temple Basin [Reflection]
This trip has defiantly been the best trip so far I learnt to never give up, skiing was a great experience and I hope that I will be able to go skiing again.
I was disappointed that I couldn't ski the first day, it was so annoying I really wanted to be able to ski but a couldn't everyone else knew how to stop and turn and I was still learning to stop.
The second day me and a few other people had a late start and had less time skiing but when I got out there I learn to turn and stop I was really proud of myself and I started going up the tow rope and skied down the mountain. Now was one of the hardest part of the trip using the nutcracker so I could go even higher up the mountain, I fell off about five times before I got the Nutcracker on the rope and even then I wasn't very good at using it so I kept trying and after about another six tries I could just fling the Nutcracker over the rope.

Sea Kayaking Reflection
So Sea Kayaking all I can say is it was a great experience and it was really wet. I felt like it was really cool as kayaking is out of my comfort zone. Not only was the Sea Kayaking cool the whole trip was, the instructors were awesome the camp had a really cool vibe and everyone had a really good attitude towards the trip this made the trip very fun for everyone. It was hard work doing everything in the rain like putting up tents, kayaking, sleeping, cooking and lots of other stuff, but we battled through the wet ground, the wet tent and the rain everyone put 100% effort into this trip and its something everyone should be proud of. Know one said no know said I don't want to know one said I can't, but everyone said they will...

Rock Climbing and Abseiling Reflection
I was on a cliff looking over the edge I felt like if I lend back I was going to fall off but I had to trust the rope so I went over the edge the buzz has awesome and before I knew it I was at the bottom. Abseiling this massive cliff is one of my biggest achievements so I'm really happy that I conquered my fear it is a big achievement for any 12 year old to do so I felt so scared when I was at the top of the cliff but when I got to the bottom it was the best feeling in the world the buzz was massive and that's just the abseiling.
After abseiling I was really confident for Rock Climbing I felt like I was flying up the cliff I have never been very good at rock climbing but when I started climbing I was up there in no time at all I felt like I was getting more confided about heights.
Thanks to the polytechnic and Westland milk products who made this trip happen.

I feel really excited about this trip, rock climbing and abseiling isn't my favourite thing to do but I will try my hardest, I don't want to be that kid that doesn't do it...

W5T2 Reflection
This week has been the best week of term two. My team and I were sitting down getting ready for our debate on New Zealand's education system is broken, our team was chosen to be on the cons side (NZ's system is not broken) The wait felt like I has sitting there for years, the debate started and suddenly I felt so relaxed, when I started speaking I felt so dominant we went on to win the debate, I felt that I did well and that our team put all there effort into this. I felt a real change in thought towards debating in the whole class after some peoples first debate.

Writing to the editor
Dear Editor
I am writing to you about the poultry show.
Why would you have the poultry show in the Civic Centre? And on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in which we play Basketball, Cricket, Badminton and multiple training sessions. Why can’t you have it somewhere else!?
Sports is very close to a lot of West Coast hearts and you replace that with... CHICKENS.
You can easily do the poultry show somewhere else unlike the multiple sports that we do over the weekend which we can’t find replacements for. What about using outside facilities like Dixon Park?
In what other city/town would basketball be cancelled because of chickens, PLUS when we play basketball everyone complains about us wearing black soled shoes because they leave black marks. But bringing in chickens that poop everywhere is okay?!
Because of these reasons, I think that the poultry show should be held somewhere else.
Yours sincerely
Bailey
W4T2 Reflection
This week we focused on debating we all wrote a letter to the editor about local issues, some really great pieces of writing came out of it and we all showed real passion towards our subjects that we chose most of us got our letters finished so we will be able to see them in the newspaper.
So debating, in my opinion, debating is really fun, or topic for our debate was New Zealand's education system is broken we have pros and cons teams I wanted to be on the pros team (like almost everyone else) but I got put in the cons teams
Hopefully we can win the debate!!!!!!

Cave stream [Reflection]
When I got to school I was buzzing with excitement, Mr S-W checked our packs to make sure we had the right gear.
When we got to cave stream everybody rushed to the toilets like a pack of wolves, we got to the mouth of the cave, when I saw it I knew this was going to be special.
Mr S-W walked into the mouth of the cave to check the the depth of the water, we watch as more and more of his body disappeared under the water at this point it was up to his armpits “Wow” I thought that's deep.
About ¼ through the cave we were asked to climb up on a ledge I was at the back and Cooper was sitting on my foot and leg, mr S-W said to turn all our torches off so we did we stayed like that for about 1 minute when mr S-W screamed out AHHH we all knew that he was trying to scare as but everyone just laughed as we jumped back into the water. About half way through I lost the feeling in my feet and legs and all I could here was laughing and talking.
Near the end of our journey we came across a ladder that we needed to go up but we had to wait for the other group to go up the ladder we must have been waiting for ¾ of an hour before I finally climbed up the ladder and out of the cave…
I will definitely come back again.

Is trying not enough?
Today we had a problem with the run, people some people just ran half the way, but most of the people in my class do that all the time and the ONE time the people that TRY on the run do it ONCE we get told.
Our teacher spoke about putting more EFFORT into the run but there are some people that try very day and the ONE time we don't we here about it.
Some people almost NEVER try and never and told about it so why do the people that do try do get told off!?
Is every time trying but once not good enough when never trying is?
